About Us
Our Story

Breast Friends of Bel Air was founded on an unexpected friendship, a shared journey, and a simple belief: no one should face breast cancer alone. What began as two local women supporting one another through diagnosis and treatment has grown into a nonprofit dedicated to providing hope, education, encouragement, and meaningful connections for others navigating breast cancer. Learn more about the journeys that inspired Breast Friends of Bel Air.

Jennifer’s Story

In May 2024, my life changed with a diagnosis of Stage II HER2-positive, hormone receptor-negative breast cancer. As a healthy woman in my 40s, the diagnosis came as a complete shock. As a wife, mom of three, and business owner, I felt overwhelmed and quickly realized I didn’t know anyone locally who truly understood what I was experiencing.

While searching for support, I came across a post from another local breast cancer survivor, Danielle. We reached out to each other, formed an immediate friendship, and discovered the incredible comfort of having someone who simply understood. That connection inspired us to create Breast Friends of Bel Air—a community where no one has to face breast cancer alone.

My treatment included six rounds of chemotherapy followed by a double mastectomy with direct-to-implant reconstruction, with many challenges and victories along the way. Today, I am grateful to be cancer-free and passionate about helping others find hope, connection, and support through every stage of the breast cancer journey.

Danielle’s Story

When I heard the words, “You have breast cancer,” my world changed in an instant. I was diagnosed in September 2023, underwent a lumpectomy in October, completed radiation in December, and am now navigating five years of hormone therapy while continuing to manage lymphedema as a result of my treatment.

While my medical team took incredible care of me, I quickly realized that some of the most meaningful healing came from connecting with other women who truly understood what I was going through.

One of those connections was Jenny, whom I met through our shared breast cancer journey. Together, we founded Breast Friends of Bel Air because we believe no one should have to face this journey alone. My passion is creating a community where patients, survivors, and thrivers feel supported—not just during treatment, but long after—through connection, encouragement, practical resources, and the reassurance that they never have to walk this path alone.
